Patents/Inventions
We have an idea we would like to patent.
1. Do we have to draw it up first and if so are there specific people who do this?
You should have a basic sketch of the idea to help the patent attorney understand your invention. If you don’t, then the patent attorney should be able to help you create a sketch. Most patent applications require figures.
2. Then, where do I find the companies to “make” the product or do I go to companies that make similar products and try to sell the idea to them?
Depends if you want a prototype of your invention or if you want to license your invention. Several companies will make a prototype of your invention and a list of the companies can be found on
www.youinventit.com. If you want somebody to buy or license your invention, you should first file for patent protection then try and market your invention.
3. If I produce the product, should I first see if we could sell it / I would need a prototype, who could make the prototype?
Several companies will make a prototype of your invention and a list of the companies can be found on www.youinventit.com.
